Even if its the same model and generation too?.in this case a 93-97 year nissan altima

The type of transmission generally has nothing to do with the function of the tach as it is used soley for measuring engine rpm's not speed. call a nissan dealer and ask about the price and part number for one with a stick and do the same inquiry about one with an automatic. if the part number is the same you're good to go

It will work, but theres a few things to find out:

Was the tachometer an option on the automatic? If so, and yours does not have it, then the wiring connector should be somewhere near where the tach would be installed. If it is not an option, then you are going to have to hardwire the tach

You can if they are both electronically controlled. Contact the dealership or look in Chilton's car manual to find that out.

Tachometers usually run off of the distributor... so it shouldn't matter what tranny you have.
