Clearly the world is not heading anywhere good. I blame all of this on power imballances and a lack of universal respect. We keep recycling tried and failed methods to correct these problems that ultimately create new Us Vs. Them situations. The world isn't getting any bigger but the magnitude of the repercussions of repeating this pattern do get bigger.

What can we do so that we can put an end to humanities escalating self-destructive practices?

We need to start thinking about how our actions will effect everybody now and later and stop believing that anyone or anything can be more superior, righteous or whatever than anything else.

Some One That Cares makes a good point that I should have explained in my question more clearly. People as individuals need to work out they own internal struggles so that they can examine the world around them with open eyes and open minds. Otherwise they will not be able to effectively help humanity coexist.

Geoffrey, I completely agree that humanity has been making great progress yet our habit of perpetrating group superiority practices is impeding our progress.

You see, balance means justice. Should we be the ones that should bring justice to the world? I would rather have God be the justice of things in the world. We certainly are not God nor anyone's master or master of the universe. For many Centuries people tried to rule the world and evidences had shown that it failed time and time again. We may be a much advanced country, but America does not inherit the whole world. Being only a small portion of the world's land mass, we shouldn't hope to control or try to bring peace to the world. It's not in our hands. It's in God's hand, and playing God just doesn't fit in the eyes of God. So, no matter how many philosopers and good politicians in this world may try to put all of their heads together to find simple solutions to help bring peace to the earth still wouldn't satisfy the fact that we are only human and yet so vulnerable or fragile. But what we really should have done, though, is to be an example to the world that peace is possible only if we know what it takes or what it means to show love to others. Good enough, yes?

I disagree. The world is getting better slowly. The last 200 years have seen enormous progress in all areas of human endeavour.
I agree that believing in superiority of groups is a mistake but I would argue there's less of that than ever before.

I agree with Some One, change starts with the individual. I also believe that we must stop talking about what is wrong and what is right and just stop DOing what is wrong and start DOing what is right.
While we're busy changing ourselves and not giving those on power trips the time of day, things will get better. Well, at least I would hope they would.
