Does it matter? Unless Democratic voters have lost their minds they will not offer a candidate as inexperienced in Washington as Mr. Obama. Aside from some good speeches, just what has he accomplished to give him an edge against Senators Biden, Clinton, or Edwards, let alone Al Gore, who won for them once already.

The people who advised him to take a run so early in his career have not served Mr. Obama well. He should be learning his new job in Washington; until he has actually done something, how can we judge him?

The only way he can win in the primaries is if enough Republicans register as Democrats to vote for him.

All the talking heads say it is time for a black or a woman president, but they assume we as voters will settle for a nonentity with the right label. We may have voted for the Bush League in 2004, but we are not usually that stupid.
