I've heard him a couple of times this past week and I think he is one of the smartest guys who has ever been in politics. Too bad he doesn't have a prettier face or he'd have been a great presidential candidate.

Democratic party idealism is what cost them many elections in the past decades. We need to look at getting into office. Once there we can deal with idealism in bills passed. The problem with the Republicans is they have lost the true Republican idealism they need to come back and for the Democrats they need to tone the idealism down a bit. By doing this both parties will work together and govern from the center. As long as they remain polarized we aren't going to see much real quality legislation out of Washington.

I prefer realism over idealism any day. Sure we can focus on other things as well, but we need to address the realities that we face in this country. That is why things like abstinence-only sex education is a joke. In a perfect world, yes, I would support it. But in a country where 95% of the people have pre-marital sex (since the 1940s), and the teen pregnancy and STD rate climb, a more realistic approach would be fitting.

Senator Bradley has been pushed to the back pages of the political scene, anything he says now is irrelevant. Destroyed in his 2000 debate with Owl Gore in Harlem.

No. Idealism is not normally grounded in reality. Ideally we all want peace, but realistically it is impossible.
