I've never been a good test taker. I know the material, but just have never been able to translate it to paper during a test. How about you?

I test well... but it has been a long road. Test taking is a skill... and there is more to it than simply regurgitating information. If that were the case, I'd be a master! (Mental picture of vomit on a page... I've felt like doing that SO many times! Some profs inspire that in me more than others!)
For me it was getting rid of the anxiety. I HATE math tests to this day. I excel at math (actually, I teach it), but I am dysgraphic. That does not translate to successful completion of time-dependent tests, especially when I'm busy recopying numbers backwards, and switching 3s into 8s, and 2s into 5s. For me (and now for my students) it's figuring out what our particular worries, fears, weaknesses and strengths are regarding test taking. I owe them that much... they are headed to grade 10, and high school relies heavily on testing as a means of assessment.

Actually, I have learned some great test taking skills that make me look brilliant. In most standardized tests, multiple choice, there are two answers that are obviously wrong, you eliminate those and look at the two remaining choices and try to figure which is the better choice. In math, work backwards, look at the answers before making a choice, and put the answer into the problem, you rarely have to do any math.

I am a good test taker (I memorize very easily), but not necessarily a good learner. I do not do well in class discussions or group projects. My spouse does not do tests well, but knows a lot more than me!

In high school i could BS my way through a test with no problem but now that im at college it a whole different ball game

I love tests. I thrive on pressure and have always done well on tests. Now, the everyday mundane things I can screw up like there's no tomorrow.

i am a visual person need to read to answer so i am good at it
when ppl ask test things is when i hesitate to make sure i heard it right
