I have checked the obvious; cables, power cord, outlet, tried the power switch - nothing!! Is there some kind of circuit breaker within the unit? Is there any function under normal operating conditions that would cause this breakdown? Are there any methods to reset. This thing will not respond to anything. I don't understand the breakdown, it don't get used often and worked fine the day before. Thanks Lee

If it is a dot matrix printer, look for a switch or a button which makes it online. If that is not applicable, try to test print if the printer switch panel allows it. The cable and ports could be having problems.

when my printer started blinking & giving false error msgs, the ONLY thing that fixed it was completely unplugging the USB cable from the BACK OF THE COMPUTER & replugging it.

Bear in mind, I had already unplugged everything else from everywhere else.... don't know why it made such a difference, but it did.

(same thing with my DSL ethernet cable into the back of my computer.... Modem was crazy, couldn't access the internet at all, then unplugged from back of computer & replugged & it, too, was magically fixed!)

I recommend this to anyone who's having ANY hardware problem as a first course of action!
