Yes, there are drugs that can be given through your IV during early labor before the epidural is given--nubain, stadol, demerol.

i've got in no way been shot interior the tummy with a gun...yet definite, exertions does injury. each exertions is different and each lady copes in a different way so that's not hassle-free to place exertions pains into words. that's on no account THAT undesirable, or no person might have a 2nd being pregnant. Take a newborn birthing classification or examine a e book that teaches organic the thank you to administration the soreness. in case you verify you may no longer manage contractions there are soreness meds available to you.

I got demoral, but it didn't do much for the pain. I just felt really sleepy and hot. It didn't make me hurt any less. I tried to put off having the epidural and I don't sugest you do that. They can give you other drugs to but they are like demoral, because they can't be too strong because it can mess with the baby. The baby can come out groggy and it can mess with his/her heartbeat and his/her breathing. Contractions suck, but it gets worse when your water breaks so just get the epidural asap! Good Luck! ~*Dee*~

They gave me Stadol, and it worked for about an hour, then they told me I had to have an emergency c-section so i ended up having to have an epidural anyway, its the best. I had planned on having a natural no med. birth, but my bones are too small and had to have a c-section. Good luck

sure can, you can get pain meds while in labor to help ease the suffering. ask you dr about your options they can let you know what they are willing to give you. good luck and don't worry the pain only lasts for so long, remember that while in labor- eventually the pain will stop.but it's all worth it in the end. take care.

Talk to your doctor on your next visit and ask what your options are for pain. I had an epidural and had no problems...you don't feel pain all you feel is pressure.
