Even if your cervix isn't fully closed, your OB may not be able to reach high enough to sweep. If your cervix is still thick, or not thinning out yet, it may not be possible. I will tell you that this is a procedure that is not painful, but it is definitely uncomfortable. And make sure you are ready in case labor does start for you. Good luck!

i had a membrane sweep on a wednesday, had a small show on thursday, then labour started properly on the saturday. this was my first child and he was born on the sunday. I know lots of people it has worked for so i cant see why it wouldnt work for you too. i was told to walk around afterwards to encourage things to start and have a warm bath too.

no rely if it fairly is recognizing or brown blood i could say confident as this may well be the plug / mucus that's additionally well-referred to as a practice. The membrane sweep is there to eliminate all the mucus so it facilitates your cervix to skinny and to start contractions. no rely if it fairly is shiny pink blood, or countless blood extra desirable than recognizing, or any soreness i could call your midwife or gp to envision.

ugh..I hate when people always say it is so painful..I guess they don't know what contractions feel like..Because once you get those contractions you will completly forget what stripping your membranes felt like...anyways.....

I had it done with my first son. I had it done and 6 hours after having it done I was having contractions 5 mins apart..And I had my son the next morning..So it may or may not work.

Good Luck and I hope that is works for you!!!!!

A membrane sweep is a painful and ineffective way to induce labor.

Unless you have a medical condition (like gestational diabetes) there is no reason to induce labor. The baby will come when it is done growing inside of you.
