ok, i would like to purchase my first home in the north east ohio area (lake county) and am looking for something in the 100-120k area (if i find something cheaper thatd be great too). my credit score is 714 and currently i am enrolled at college and work about 30 hours a week. what would be the best option for me the purchase a house NOW??

Check with the banks. They will work out the numbers and let you know how much maximum are they willing to loan you. You will then decide from there your budget.

in your position, stay away from 100,000 dollar homes. in fact, my guess is that it is too early to think about buying. i would rent for awhile, even while owning a home is a good thing, be sure you are financially able to do so comfortably. sit on it awhile. good advice from a home owner all my life.

Your first step is to get yourself pre-approved by a mortgage company and then start looking. Where I am, it's a buyers market.
