In the sentance "To learn how to ski it takes patience and courage"
Is the verb "takes" a transitive or a liking verb?

Takes is a transitive verb; "To (learn)" is a linking verb (like am, is, was, were, are, to, to be, etc, etc). It's not telling you about learning to ski, it's telling you what it takes to learn to ski.

Transitive. Because a linking verb links two phrases.

It's transitive.
Learn is the verb.
Also, your question should be 'People who are good at grammar...', and then continued by an actual question.
Apostrophes and commas would be helpful as well.
