We use infrared spectroscopy (IR) if we have a pure substance. If wehave a mixture to be separated, GC/MS or LC/MS (MS = mass spectroscopy) is probably one of the best qualitative tools.

Anyone can kindly explain to me these methods? Hope u can help me.

Or..can u suggest the other way of separation could be done?

There are many ways to separate mixtures. It depends on what compounds are in the mixture that you are trying to separate. If I knew what you wanted separated, I may be able to make a suggestion.

I can remember from school that we separated dissolved substances by distillation, and you can use chromatography to separate colour pigments . That's all I remember.
