Rather diverse taste in singers. Jena Mammina would be good.. Rather jazz influenced.. Bobby Caldwell might be another one. Al Jarreau,
Another might be Boz Scaggs, not the greatest voice, but does sing ballads. Kitty Margolis good jazz vocalist.

Try Rufus Wainwright, you'll either fall madly in love with his genius or you really won't like him.
Either way its an adventure.
Also worth exploring Johnny Cash's back catalogue. I know he's dead and not modern, but if you should hear his version of Hurt it blows the original away.

Try Tori Amos. Her lyrics are a bit weird sometimes but the music always hits the spot for me. Plus she's bloody good on the piano.

I think you might really like Jonny Lang - he's a young American blues/rock guitarist and singer - he reminds me a little of Stevie Ray Vaughn and sounds a lot older than his years.

I suggest checking "anberlin" and "The Classic Crime". Both of the lead singers have very melodic voices. Very cool.
