When I had that the orange was gone the next day just from washing my hands regularly, I didn't scrub extra hard or anything since I had no where special to go. Everyone has a different skin type and not all tanners are the same, but chances are you'll wash/wear it off too well before prom. And if you apply any more, yes, do wash it off your hands, I wash it off my palms and fingers and leave it on the back of my hands only now.

Most self tanners advise you to avoid the hands and elbows or knees. However, now that the damage is done, you'll find that repeated washing and time will help fade but as the chemical has worked its way under the skins surface your in a bit of a pickle.
Here's what Lady Di's Beauty adviser said on the subject.
Overdone or streaky self-tan
Fix it: 'There are products on the market that claim to remove fake tan disasters but it's a chemical reaction that turns you brown and, once that's started, there's not much that can be done,' says Barbara. 'Get yourself into the shower with a loofah and exfoliate really well will a creamy body wash to help slough away dead skin cells. If you're out and about a light-reflecting product will even out skintone and disguise any major streaks.' For the face, use a tinted moisturiser to even out colour, but avoid further cheek colour or bronzer - instead go for nude eye and lip colour so that it looks as fresh as possible. Emphasise eyes so the attention is drawn there. Or you could just don huge shades and wait for the paparazzi to mistake you for a celeb?.

The trick to getting this stain off is exactly what makes a tan fade faster in general: exfoliation. There are a few ways to hasten exfoliation of skin on your hand (although it'll happen naturally anyway, but perhaps not quickly enough for your prom). First, wash your hands very frequently. If you can massage oil on your hands before washing that will help. Second use a lotion with AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) on your hands or a physical scrub.
These tips work really well. I stain my hands with henna accidentally all the time (when applying henna to my hair). It usually gets rid of all the staining in about 3 days. Hope this helps.

Soak them in baby oil for as long as you can... this will soften up the skin...then get an exfoliator and exfoliating gloves (can be found in Wal Mart or most grocery stores) and rub where you don't want the tan look...should take care of the problem...
I used to spray tan people for a living...so I am very familiar w/ the problem...
Have fun at prom!!

Oxyclean, once you've some around the homestead only take a tsp and rub it in between your palms dry for a minute and then upload somewhat water at a time till it starts off to fizz or tingle then rub, rub and rinse. you may want to opt to repeat on the decrease back area of you palms. the different answer is rubbing alcohol. staggering regards.

Try putting alcohol on a cotton ball and rub it off. I think that works sometimes. If not -get some Gojo, they use that in body shops to get grease of their hands after working on cars. If Gojo can't get it off, I don't know what will. Hope that helps!
