What about Cinderella having to go out of town while the Prince is doing his slipper search so he never matches it up, but displays the slipper in a glass cabinet and to this day the owner has never been found. Legend has it that Cinderella came from a family who lived in ....(your town) and that her great grandfather was ....(your great great great grandfathers name) and that your son could in fact be the air to the slipper.
Either that or she tells him to bog off as she only went to the ball to flirt with his brother Prince Charming and could he put a word in?

Is "year 4" the equivalent of 4th grade? I figure this is a kid and not a college student.
I think the saddest ending would be where Cinderella goes to all this trouble to appeal to the Prince and he falls in love with another girl at the Ball. That's the kind of stuff that happens in real life.

That Cinderella finds her father's will, which states if I die under suspicious circumstances to question his wife. And that all his assets will be given to his daughter.
As she investigates further, she finds that her mother is not dead! She went on a family holiday with Cinderella and her father when they were little. They were caught in a Tsunami and she went missing. but she is alive and well but with amnesia.
With her new found wealth, she manages to track down her mother, and nurse her back to health. While she is doing this she meets, a lovely young prince.
And they all live happily ever after.
Obviously you have to expand the paragraphs into a story telling manner, but you get the gist.
It is a perfect mix of today's climate change, soap operas and drama, all which children are privy to now adays.

Everyone knows the ending in
Cinderella.Here's my idea.Cinderella doesn't go to the ball,her
step-mother stays to make sure that she doesn't sneak out,
she starts reeling out another long list of chores
for little Cindy; after she has left the room, Cindy
picks up a knife and suddenly ends up on death-row
after having killed her step-mom, waited for her
step-sisters and gutted them too.She gets the electric chair
and never meets either her 'fairy godmother' or
prince charming (who incidentally is an inbred, and a
maniac).
Bit much for a fourth grader oh, well guess I'll see if Wes Craven wants the idea.

Why should Cinderella get the prince? What if the prince was not interested in a poor girl. What if he really wanted a rich princess.

someone sees cindarella's transformation at midnight and she is thrown into a dungeon for witches. being kind and beautiful, (really tempted to go into a shower block scene here), the witches help her and cast a spell so that just as the prince gives up, and it reaching for the slipper to throw it away, she magically appears with her foot inside the slipper. still soppy but slightly different. i liked the other track i was heading down.

- Slipper does not fit Cinders
- Cinders end up going off with Buttons
- Prince ends up marrying one of the ugly sisters (and soon regrets it)
- Perhaps a reference to another Fairy Tale? EG the other sister run off to a wood and finds a gingerbread house?
