is it ok to remove and inspect the thermostat, it is located on the side of the radiator. after inspection can i put old one back if needed. or is there a seel? thanks again.

Yes, and while you are doing it, susoend the thermostat on a piece of string, place a pan of water on the cooker, lower the thermostat into the water and heat the water.
Place a thermometer in the water and look to see what temperature the thermostat opens at.
Check the temperature it opens at with the figure which should be stamped on the thermostat itself.
If they match, all is well, if not, replace the thermostat as it is likely it will let you down.

You can remove it to inspect it and then put the same one back on but you have to be really careful not to damage it as apparently it can be quite sensitive and also it is held in place with a 'rubber' ring and this is quite easily broken. If your not sure what your doing i'd advise you to be really careful or take it to a garage!

i own a shop,and you can re-use the old one on it,i always do on that type anyway ,but it wont hurt anything to remove it and check it,all it has is a rubber ring on it,and usually that survives real good,hope this helps,good luck with it.
