It depends on who this person is. If it's a friend, you know they care because they are always there for you. They know the thing to say even in tough times. If it's a guy, well, we know how men are...lol. Billy and I have been together 4 years and let me tell you, it hasn't been a walk in the park. When we started dating it was dinner, movies, and just hanging out. Now that we have kids it's harder to do those things. He always thinks of me when he's out somewhere. I can be something as simple as bringing home a cheap lighter that made him think of me. Even though he doesn't show he cares as often as he used to, the simple things show how he feels. Well to me you can tell a person cares about you by the way they carry themselves. If when you first met this person and he was just an ordinary guy/woman then after months they start expressing their feelings even when you didn't ask a word. when they start giving more than you would ever give them.

Actions speak louder than words. When you ask them what they think watch body language. Also the eyes are the window to the soul. Cliche's, but true.
