Depends on what state you live in, but in NC you have to have your permit for a year before you can get your license. If your mom says you can't get your permit right now, you have to listen to her. If her boyfriend said that, ask her how she feels about it. My son is 16-1/2 and just now got his permit, so you have plenty of time.

Is there a good reason for him saying no? Have you behaved responsibly at home and while out, meeting curfews, avoiding alcohol and drugs, resisting peer pressure, doing chores and in general following rules? As an adult who has seen many teens killed or permanently disabled because of foolish decisions made behind the wheel, I would also be concerned if you have not demonstrated the ability to make good decisions. Driving is not a RIGHT, it's a privilege that requires serious responsibility on the part of the driver. Teens believe they are adults but in truth, they don't yet think like adults. Granted, some adults think they're adults and they're not. Look at your own track record and if you've been responsible, talk to your mom and her boyfriend, show them that you ARE mature enough to drive safely, and maybe things will change. Sometimes the limits adults set aren't too be mean or controlling, they are to help keep you safe.

Your mom has the final say since she is your parent. She may take what her boyfriend has to say into consideration, depending on how serious they are. I'm not sure how long you have to hold you're permit before you can get your license. I got my permit on my 15th birthday. Then I got my license at 16, 1 month and 1 day. Not sure if it is still the same or not, it was about 15 years ago, ugh...Good luck and drive safely!! :-)

Ask your mom. What does she think?
Has your mom been with this guy for a really long time, or is it serious like they might get married? If so, you might want to give him a little credit in decision making for you because it is obvious your mom wants him there to be a part of both of your lives. And it's always important to respect adults. Not always, but they usually have your best interest in mind.
But if your mom's bf is just another bf, then you really have no reason to pay him much mind when he tells you what to do. If he's not there with you and your family for the long haul, then his ideas of rules shouldn't make a difference.

you dont need to listen to him and if you get your permit and youre under the age of 18, you have to keep a log of the times you drive, for how long, day or night, and you have to have a certain amount of driving hours after 6 months i believe of driving with a permit and a lisenced driver over the age of 18. if you get your permit and your moms boyfriend doesnt let you drive though, then you wont get any hours for your driving log and it'll take you alot longer to get your lisence.

No, not unless he has some power over you, like some law power.
Get a book, it will tell how long you have to wait, what you have to do, ect.
