The controller is amazingly fun, its good exercise, the games are well thought out. Not for graphics queens though, I guess.

like others have mentioned, the control style is the Wii's biggest asset, and in my opinion its only asset. True, it has the Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Metroid franchises, but so does every other Nintendo console; BORING.
Gaming has moved beyond the children's room into the family living room and the next gen consoles are more entertainment centers than just simple video game consoles, except for the Wii that is. People are now using their "gaming consoles" to listen to music, interface with their PCs, watch movies....etc, except for Wii owners that is.
If you really examine the hardware, the Wii is overpriced and the 360 and PS3 are a bargain. Nintendo has capitalized on the fact that most people simply cannot see past the price tag on this type of purchase. The hardware inside the Wii is comparable to that of the PS2 (which retails for 129.99 US).
The technology the Wii uses for its motion sensors is not new or revolutionary, but it is fun. Most people also fail to see the big picture or think ahead. When the novelty of this new control type wears off, the Wii will sit around collecting dust and you will regret paying 300 bucks for it. (console + at least one game).

1. Its unique.
2. Its the only system with Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Super Smash Brothers, Metriod Prime, etc..
3. More focus on fun than graphics.
4. Family friendly.
5. Its nintendo. You gotta love it.

I don't know about it being better than stuff such as the xbox 360 or PS3...
If the Wii can manage to pull off a lot of great hit games, it has a big chance of beating another console.

depends if your a serious gamer. The wii is good for a while i think. But if you like the games with good grapics, get the ps2
