Yes the FBI mostly takes college graduates with law enforcement as a major and they even prefer that you have a few years experience under your belt. Sometimes they will hire you even without a college degree in law or criminal justice, but mostly that is what they are looking for. They also LOVE to recruit military NCO's but especially military officers who are about to get out of the service because officers have college education as well as experience with dangerous situations and highly specialized training.

My advice? Get your degree in criminal justice and maybe even work part time as a sherriff's deputy in your area to gain a little extra experience while you attend school. Also, you need to start researching their hiring processes and find out anything you can to get an edge. I definitely think working part time on the side as a sherriff's deputy would look nice on a resume'. ALSO, keep your criminal history clear even a few traffic tickets could come to haunt you. If there is anything even remotely questionable, they may not hire you. Also, they put their agents through phsychological examinations. Prepare yourself for this and work through your issues :-)

Becoming an FBI Special Agent is a very competitive process. Below are some minimum requirements to become an FBI Special Agent.

You must be a U.S. citizen or a citizen of the Northern Mariana Islands. You must be at least 23 years of age, but younger than 37 upon your appointment as a Special Agent. Age waivers may be granted to preference eligible veterans who have surpassed their 37th birthday. You must possess a four-year degree from a college or university accredited by one of the regional or national institutional associations recognized by the United States Secretary of Education. You must have at least three years of professional work experience. You must also possess a valid driver's license and be completely available for assignment anywhere in the FBI's jurisdiction.

Any degrees that develop research and analytical skills are desirable educational backgrounds for FBI Special Agent candidates. Whatever major you choose, make the most of your time and money. Choose a school that is properly accredited, get the highest grade point average that you can, participate in a couple extracurricular activities, get a good internship, and do some regular volunteer work. Consider getting an advanced degree. You don't have to have military experience to become an FBI Special Agent, but it could help in some cases. Getting law enforcement officer jobs is becoming more and more competitive. Do whatever you can to make yourself the best candidate that you can. For example, don't do anything illegal, maintain a good reputation, keep a good driving record, don't get bad credit, improve all of your communication skills as much as possible, and become as physically fit as you can.

After you have your criminal justice degree join the police force and from there through more classes and good performance you can get into the FBI training program.

you need 4 years of education in college. criminal justice is just great. it will be great if you can speak a another language FLUENTLY. physically, you have to be well. be able to do at least 60 sit-ups per min. they'll time you with a 300 meter sprint and 1.5 mile run. you do NOT need to have firearm skills. but it's always better to have more skills. very important to master karate, aikido, tai kwon do,judo etc...but it is NOT mandatory. you must have a correctable eye vision of 20/20. just go to www.fbijobs.gov and select "special agents"
