would you be more brave if you were singing with a group?

not like a choir...you would still have your individual part.

When I sing karaoke (and I only have a few times), I always start out with a group effort and as the night wears on I may have the nerve to do a duo or go solo. Try short songs like the Beatles "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away". It's only 2 minutes and 17 seconds of torture for your audience. I practiced for a long time, too so I would half way know the words! I got a standing "O" even though I was not all that good.

I've been saying for years, that I am going to sing, but I never can get up there!

I don't think it has to do with a group or just me.

but one day, when I've had several drinks, I'll be leading the bar in a chorus of "Sud's in the Bucket" by Sara Evans!

I'm terrified to sing karaoke, but not because I can't sing, it is to me what public speaking is to most people.

A group helps a little, but getting drunk helps more. Liquid courage.

I would be a bit less nervous, but still anxious because I would have my own part (meaning if I messed up, people would still notice). I'm terrified of singing in public!

if your terrorfied in singing in a karaoke, you should either pick a song that you feel entirely comfortable with, or a karaoke classic like 'Don't Stop Believin' ' by Journey, or get drunk before hand! u may not sing as well but ul damn well do it!!!

The only possible way to get me to sing karaoke is after nine or ten tequila shots at three a.m. surrounded by drunken people who won't remember who I am, there are no cameras and we are in Tokio.

Hrmmm, not sure - maybe if I only had one word to sing. It's not so much that it terrifies me, it's more that I know my singing is absolutely atrocious, and I really don't think it is fair to inflict it on other people.
