I have this male friend that is basically an internet friend. We have been talking for almost two years via email, and we have met in person before as well. It is only a platonic relationship, but I have to admit there is attraction on my part. We dont really discuss realtionship issues. I am not concerned with being in any type of committed boyfriend/girlfriend relationship at this time. I want to send him a birthday card, and I was wondering if this would send a signal that I was interested in more than just being friends. I dont want him to get the wrong impression because if there is no attraction on his part I dont want to loose him as a friend. In other words, I like the way things are between us at present, and I do not want to do anything to tamper with that. Basically, we only send emails back and forth and an occassional letter through post.

Send a funny card - that way he won't be able to read too much in to any sentiments in the card.

Go to your family photo collection, find a picture of you at an age where walking was new and climbing into bathtubs was difficult, so your Internet friend can see you in your birthday suit but in a nice way. This is means to vent some of that attraction without the challenge a photocopy of you in little
red bikini might present.

I wouldn't worry much about sending a card because it's just that. Now sending flowers is different. I've always sent birthday and holiday cards to male friends.

How about sending him an ecard - that way it keeps it light and friendly? I don't think sending him a 'proper' card would make him think you wanted a relationship anyway but if you wanted to avoid all doubt just keep it really friendly.

All this information, just to ask about a birthday card! Of course, it is OK. Everyone likes to receive them.
