When she gets the chance - have her tell the Attorneys for both sides and the Judge that will be presiding over the case that she does not understand English enough for her to serve on the Jury.
This should be sufficient to get her excused.
Good Luck!

One of two things will happen. Either they get a court appointed translator for her or she may be excused.
Personal opinion: If she can't speak the language well enough for jury duty than she shouldn't be a citizen until she learns.

Well, calling won't do anything. When she's summoned, she's not officially on a jury. The lawyers will do a jury selection. Her best bet is either act really biased or try explaining to the judge what the problem is.

On the back of the response there is a form to ask to be excused and there is a box you could check that says you don't know enough english.

No, she'll have to appear, but she can tell the clerk to the court that she doesn't speak much English, and she will be excused.

OK, Let me get this straight.
She's in the country -- legally or illegally ? -- and wants to be a citizen...
But she doesn't want to pull jury duty ?
Welcome to America, where we are actually INVOLVED in our society, not just there to collect money from the general public...
