We look at people from the past and call them fools for believing in polytheism (Sun gods and God of war) do you think in the future people will do the same thing with our current religions?

Why would anyone think polytheistic religions were any more foolish than montheist ones?

Religions, all religions, are human constructs. Atheists believe that God too is a human construct, but that's a differnt argument. People, or groups of people invent religions to serve a purpose whether there is a god or not.

At the core of almost every religion I can think of are rules to live by. They reflect the will of a person or group of people who wish to share, or impose their will on other people. It helps to validate their point of view if they can convince people that a divine being or beings is guiding them.

I think religion is losing it's luster in today's society. People are more skeptical and require proof when they are told something. The fact that war and killing in the name of religion has not slowed down since time began doesn't help either.

Hopefully as a species we won't need to have religions in the future.

I certainly don't call them fools. There really hasn't been a major polytheistic religion without an underlying 'monotheistic' principle, like an Aton or a Theos or a Brahman. It seems that in reality, the nature of religion is such that the same idea manifests in different ways and degrees according to the geographic and historical context.

I think some nations YES, might be doing the same as people used to do in the past. And I don't think its related to whether its wrong or right, or whether they learned from the previous ones mistakes or not; its more likely as a Tradition! Habit or some sort of a carrying on thing which they used to do for many years and aren't gonna change it now.

Many already do. The christian idea of blood sacrifices to appease an angry God is the same idea that the mithrans had over 3000 years ago.

Most of the people who go around saying that the blood of Jesus washes away the sins of the world have no Idea that this idea was borrowed from the followers of Mithra by Paul to increase the number of converts he was getting.

Blood sacrifices to appease angry Gods is just nonsense no matter how it is packaged.

History has a habit of repeating it self.
Yes no matter what we do now, it will be repeated.
Fashion and Unfortunate Mistakes will repeat it self.
Take a look at politics and politicians, they continue to make the sames mistakes there predecessors have made.
Fashion also.

Unfortunately no matter what we say or do we humans are not the best examples to follow . Why ??? Who knows.
