I need information about "blems" or blemished tires. A family member bought new tires and did not know they were blemished. The tires ended up going out of balance really quickly. A family friend had the same experiece at the same tire store. The salesperson did not tell either my family member or our family friend that the tires were blemished. They both have to get new tires now. Is the tire store liable?

yes they are supoosed to tell you! because they are cheaper. but they didnt go out of balance because they were blem tires, the blem means there was something wrong with the outside of the tire like a letter is screwed up or it had a small nick in the side . you tires were not balanced correctly or the weights they used came off.

yes, they need to advertise them as "blems" The cheap price should have been the 1st clue. Check the reciepts to make sure they were not sold as blems, the salesperson may have hidden the fact that they are blems but added the note to the reciept. If the sasle price was advertised in a paper as blems then you have nothing to satnd on, if they were not advertised then you should get a replacement or refund, which may be difficult to prove.
good luck.....

I've been selling tires for 5 years. I've never encountered a "blemished" tire, let alone sold one. I find it rather shocking that one store could sell at least two sets of supposedly blemished tires.

I would imagine such issues would be handled under the tire manufacturers warranty, but again, having never encounted this in a store that sells 9,000 tires a year...

Yes they are, and they should be taking these back. Small claims court is a good alternative if they don't return the blemished tires. Hope this helps.
