You try to talk them out of it.
I used to volunteer at a crisis hotline, and one tactic that we would use, is to show the person how this would affect the people that love them. Let them think about all of the people that love them, even if it just their dog.
A lot of time people conteplating suicide just need someone to talk to, and express their feelings to. It's a cry for help.
Look up a local crisis hotline in your area, and have him to give them a call and talk out his problems. This has helped a lot of people overcome committing suicide.
If you see that it is getting really dangerous, then call for help.
Hope this helps...

You have to tell someone!!! You need to to, your Friend might not think that you are a being a good friend but what if your friend goes through with it? You can't take that chance. Tell the parents or someone who is really close to that person that will actually be able to talk to them and get through to them. This is a very serious situation and you NEED TO TELL SOMEONE NOW. There is no waiting in this case none whatsoever. Tell someone get your friend some help, find out what is truly bothering that person. You may think that you are being a good friend by not saying anything but you need to tell someone and tell them now. Before anything happens.

when my friend told me they were going to or wanted to i just made them think about what they would miss later in life..I told them they had a lot to look forward to, they had a lot of people that would miss them and care deeply if they decided to go through with it. I made them realize it was just a stupid mistake and they shouldnt do it. I told them also that it would make them stronger if they pulled through it, instead of going the easy way out

talk to them about it and make them feel as important as you can....tell them how much they impact other peoples lives and there is still so much to live for....tell them how strong of a person they are and that they can get through it....if nothing works get them help dont wait and let them get worse..just never get angry with them or blame them for something..understand why and just be as supportive as you can be
