Revving is not good for any car. With turbo, there is an oil pressure drop and the poor thing is spinning at 50,000 plus rpms, which could "grenade" it quickly any time you let off the throttle.

Yeah but sounds cool! I wouldn't sweat it too much as long as you let it idle down for a few minutes before you turn the engine of. The oil pressure that feeds the bearings ceases to exist as soon as you turn off the engine, however the turbo will continue to spin for a bit. That is why you want to be sure your turbo is spinning as slowly as possible when you turn off the key.

I think the whole don't rev your engine thing follows along the same lines as "Don't step on the gas too far or you are beating on your car" I say, "Sure whatever you say grandma" and I smoke the tires. I beat the piddly out of my car every day, and it never breaks. I have 300,000 on my 4G63 Mitsubishi engine. I consider it "Performance testing" if something breaks, it must have been ready to break anyway, that's my take on it. This way I can take it on a 2000 mile trip (driving mellow), and be confident that if it was going to break, it would have broken when I was near home beating it silly.

On second thought Lab does have a valid point. If you have low oil pressure during hot idling, don't do that too often.

Once the car is warmed up and you got good oil pressure it shouldnt be a problem. What would kill the turbo though is when you do this and then suddenly kill the engine. Oil pressure will suddenly drop while your turbine is spinning is really bad. You can damage the turbo assembly. Instead, allow the engine to idle for a couple of minutes to cool down the turbo and allow the turbine to slow down before turning off the engine.

in case you have the vehicle climate administration determination or are working the defroster the AC compressor will cycle. in case you somewhat think of it is the priority purely unplug it. there's a connector purely at the back of the pulley, its a splash no longer hassle-free to get to yet no longer impossible. There at the instant are not any hassle-free techniques for the timing to be off with that gadget. purely had a concern with a ninety 8 Buick with an identical 3800 engine. at first we concept it grew to become into purely the battery besides the fact that it nonetheless had concern beginning. i ended up changing the starter and the valuable battery cable. The cable had a ton of corrosion on it and because it connects to the starter I figured i grew to become into area way there already. I have been given the OE variety cable from a areas save, it grew to become into extra ideal high quality finding than the unique and grew to become into approximately $sixty 5. IF the starter grew to become into no longer $2 hundred it could have been a candy deal. It grew to become into no longer too undesirable a activity to replace and it starts great now. i think of they only say one million.5 hours for exertions. different in spite of the fact it is while it starts do you notice lots of smoke from the tail pipe? The 3800's are consumer-friendly for the intakes leaking coolant into the engine. this might lead them to no longer hassle-free to start and in severe situations can certainly injury the engine. different different concept is a foul gasoline stress regulator. I dont keep in mind the place that's on those yet many times its on the gasoline rail and has a short vacuum line to the intake. Pull that line off and verify for signs and indicators of gasoline. If there is any signs and indicators of gasoline or liquid gasoline the regulator is shot and desires to get replaced. many times the gasoline rail has to return off to replace it which many times ability another stuff has to return off to get get right of entry to.
