I'm doing a short film in a class of mine in H.S. and I've decided to do a short on interviewing people about civil rights. Any idea on what questions I should ask in my film? I mean good ones. haha

"What does 'All Men are Created Equal' mean to you?"

"What is the difference between the "Bill of Rights" and the "Constitution?""

"How many Amendments to the Constitution are there and what are they? (Or how many do you know)"

{Just to correct a previous poster: The words "Speration of Church and State" are not anywhere in the Constitution, but it is indeed implied with these words from the First Amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." Not only it is implied but it has been widely accepted at all levels of the Judicial System! ALSO this has been interpreted as meaning "Freedom of Religion" AS WELL AS "Freedom FROM Religion"}

Ask people if they know what their civil rights are. I'll bet most people cannot really articulate what rights they are guaranteed in this country.

How do our rights here differ from rights in other countries? Why are ours better (or worse, if they think so) than other countries? I'm not sure people are aware of the differences between the US and other countries, and what those differences mean.

What is the difference between "civil rights" and "special rights", a phrase often used against things like affirmative action, gay rights ordinances, etc.

Ask whether civil rights have been strengthened, weakened or neither in the 21st century. There is plenty of controversy over this due to some of the actions of the Bush administration.

Besides the civil rights movement in the 60's, which concentrated on black Americans, what other civil rights movements have there been? Examples would include women's suffrage in the early 20th centry, gay rights in the late 20th century, and perhaps others you could dig up. It would be interesting to know if the general public knows about these "other" civil rights movements.

Make sure you put special emphasis that the term "Separation of Church and State" does NOT appear in the Constitution.

It is used by the media so much these days, many people may actually believe it!!
