When the hymen tears there is a very small amount of blood that happens. You can't always know when a hymen is broken as it can happen with sports or horse back riding etc.

The hymen is broken (torn reallly) by penetration of the vagina.

This is painful when it happens and their should be a little bit of blood (not really too much). It is worth putting a towel down on the bed the first time.

Some women have a small or no hymen, so during penetration the Hymen is not torn. For some women, during first penetration the hymen is not fully torn (for example if penetration is done with a finger or a smaller penis) so a women can actually have her hymen torn a second time.

But the hymen won't grow back (though some animals regrow their hymen every month).

The hymen is just a thin flap of skin and since it does have blood flow to it, although the amount of blood is small, some blood will most likely come out, but it's usually not so much that it's even noticable. You can visually check to see that the hymen is in tact, and some people accidentally break theirs while doing strenuous activities, such as riding a bike. It's not a sure test to check for virginity by checking to see that the hymen is in tact so in some cultures, they have a woman doctor insert her finger into a girls vagina to check to make sure that her muscles are still tight around it.
