The ultimate poll! If you take into account the quality of the products, the time they last and the service you get does it make sense to buy "premium" beauty? Please don't say no if you've never done it! And on the other hand if you think about the wide choice of cheaper products and their quality which is sometimes at least comparable - what's the result?

Thanks for answers my opinion is that if nothing skincare is definitely worth paying for - I've been battling breakouts recently and after trying several cheapish brands I bought about 70 pounds (shudder) worth of dermalogica stuff - never going back. Similarly expensive foundation and powder - if you still have your foundation on after 10 hours and there is no shine then you know it was worth it. But things like eye makeup, unless you've got the cash, why? I'm surprised people mention it so much - I'm happy with my Max Factor, I just couldn't spend 20 quid on a mascara.

I think they are worth thier price considering what you are getting to a certain extent, but paying for a name is not worth it. I like the fact you can walk into a department store and try on different colors and products to find the one that fits your needs instead of buying many and having them not quite match. Some of the drug store cosmetics are good quality, but rarely can you take the time to try the product and end up buying more than one to find a product you do like.

Like everything else it is more important to find a product that has the solution to your own specific needs. Prevention is also better than cure. There is no point in waiting until your skin is wrecked by the sun, alcohol, smoking and bad diet and hoping a £300 jar of face cream is going to fix it - it wont. Expensive creams are so due to the research and ingredients that go into making them. One of the best skin care ranges I have ever used is Chantecaille. The ingredients are natural and the technology is cutting edge. Pricey - yes! The Bio-dynamic Lifting Cream is £240 - but entirely worth it as a preventative to ageing. There is no substitute for healthy skin and no amount of expensive face creams can make up for a poor diet and skincare regime. Know what you want out of your skincare products and buy the ones that will give you those results. Why would a 16 year old buy anti-ageing face cream?

Im definately going expensive i started using elemis products about 2 years ago and my skin has never looked better. As for make up i think you get what you pay for especially when it comes to foundation i use estee lauder foundation and lancome eyeshadows and blusher everything just stays put. But i do still buy cheaper brands of mascara as i cant really tell the difference between an £8 or a £25 mascara.

For skincare- yes, expensive can be worth it.

especially face wash, I rather use a expensive quality product (PH balanced), and for lotion, I would ONLY buy it based on great reviews even if it expensive. I can even go without makeup if I have pretty skin. I did hear that skincare only prevents aging by 10%. The best thing to do for better skin is to eat healthy, drink alot of water, not smoke, and excercise, and maintain normal hormonal levels (via medicine) because skincare can only help slightly

For makeup- no, expensive is not worth it. moderate to cheap price based on convenience.

(foundation is an exception- its worth to spend the extra money because I dont want to retouch my makeup.) For other types of makeup: blush, eyeshadow, liner... i dont care if it is cheap cuz its just something I can retouch. There are very good brand names out there: loreal, maybellience, revlon and they are not that expensive. Time is money, so for some people its worth it to spend $14 for Clinique lipstick if you want it to last longer compared to covergirl $5 that may not last as long plus expensive name brands have makeup artists for assistance. You get what you paid for. For me, i have never bought a lipstick over $8. its not worth it for me. All the color makeup I have gotten has been in a gwp set.

I use Arbonne and I thought it was kinda expensive but when i tried them for a while I seen a difference, i fell in love with the fact there are no chemicals or animal testing or bi products from animals. so yea compared to all the beauty product you have bought in the past and didn't like and stuffed in a cabinet or threw away add it all up and well I think the price is worth it if you find the right stuff.

I definitely think it's worth it. I have really sensitive skin so I have to be really careful. The brand I use is Estee Lauder which is really good. When I was younger I used to use cheaper products and it make my face a really bright red - so not a good look! I love their foundation and the staff are always really helpful too. They can even do free trials without trying to force you to buy their products.

My friends think I'm crazy for spending so much on make-up but I'll never go back!

It all depends on the brand. Some are expensive just cause the company just want to make more money and some are expensive cause its a purer product while some say they are isnt always the truth. you have to look at the ingrediant to see if that is what suppose to be there for example mineral make-up (my sis told me this) there are some new mineral make-up now that are cheaper the bare mineral but still on the expensive side and she said the there are stuff in some make-up that is not suppose to be in there so its not worth it but some are worth it you just have to know what yor looking for for sure i hope this helps

not sure about clinic but there is a company called artistry out there that is rated in the top 5 prestigious brands with clinic and it is defiantly worth the price! its actually a little less expensive than clinic but it is a better quality than anything i have ever used! artistry actually puts all of their "would be " advertising money and puts it into research and development!
they use all word of mouth advertising and they own a microscope that NASA uses to map the surface of the moon to map the sub-containial levels of your skin so they can give you a guaranteed improvement rate if used properly! they also offer a 100% money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied! they have a line dedicated just to time defiance and i have never seen anything like it! my mom was an avid lancome user and switched to artistry and with in a month she looked a lot younger and now she won't use anything else! its amazing and there is nothing else out there like it, AND YES IT IS WORTH THE PRICE!!!
anyway you can get it at www.vherr.qhealthbeauty.com
and you can check out the details about artistry @ www.artistry.com! hope you find what you are looking for!

I've used Clinique, Lancome, and Mac in the past. I went to a Mary Kay party 2-3 years ago and fell in love. Their skin products are the best I've found and the make up is great; it's comparable to Mac and is a LOT cheaper!!! I've learned most expensive does not mean best.

in some cases i think it is worth it...using the right products together can make you look gorgeous and your makeup will last a lot longer and the coverage is usually a lot better. things like eyeshadow...i find that if you use an eyeshadow base your results will be much better...sometimes it's not the makeup itself it's what comes before the makeup is put on. i must admit that there are fairly good quality brands in grocery and drugs stores but i guess i figure i want it to look good and last and i'm going to be spending money on it anyway...why not get something worth spending money on.
