Doesn't something seem a bit fishy how there was so much talk about a pre-planned invasion of Iran in the works, with Bush running out of time to use the military. Then the British military plant a few soldiers out in the sea to get easily nabbed, and Iran took the bait. Now, it's another scenario where supposedly "they were asking for it," and the public will be fooled again when another Operation Shock and Awe goes down.

Funny coincidence how so many Americans want to see an invasion of Iran and quick to defend how that government uses our military in acts of aggression instead of real defense of the nation?

I guess I should have asked this question: Do governments lie and manipulate situations according to their own vested interests?

While the threat of Iran is trumpeted by the same media that declared that Nicaragua and Grenada were threats to US security. Remember when the Sandinistas were a national threat?
Ahmedinejad's rants do not justify offensive actions either militarily or financially. Particularly since the most circulated quote is a mistranslation at best. "Wiping off the map" is an idiom that does not exist in farsi. Furthermore, the head of state in Tehran, Ayatollah Khameini explicitly supports the Arab League's peace plan, which says nothing about another jewish holocaust. And if the west should listen up on anything populist Ahmedinejad it is that the Arabs do not have to pay for crimes committed by capitalist western christians (namely the Nazis).
We must remember, this is the media that is making a really big deal about Iran's demand of its rights under the NPT without mentioning the failure of the US to follow the same treaty.
I would also like to add that given a long history of falise casus belli, the American people should know better than trusting their government with war funds. The cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars is coming to something like $11000 per family. Are you happy about paying all that money under the false claim that Iraq was an imminent threat?
One last thing, the US deposed a democratic government in Iran to impose the Shah and his brutal secret police on the people. One can hardly blame them for not being Yankees fans. Let alone be sore over the hostage crisis in '79. A consulate that backed up a brutal dictatorship is undesirable. If a Chinese backed dictator was overthrown in the US, the Chinese embassy might not fare so well.

So, for all of those who categorically deny all of Iran's claims, the ad hominem fallacy is what you need to look up. For all of those who claim US critics always blame the US for everything: maybe the US shouldn't have its hand everywhere, then it might be under less suspicion.
So, yes, it looks like they bit the bait. But the Iranian regime has so far reacted in a legitimate fashion and should continue to do so. Any mistake on the part of Iran will be used by your government as an excuse to give away more of your money to the military industrial complex. So keep your president on a tight leash and read news from all parties involved... trust Washington and London as much as you trust Tehran and everything will be just fine.
Peace.

If an attack on Iran occurs it will be from the air, and we won't see the troops on the ground. However, I do agree that when I first saw the report I though "Gulf of Tonkin" and "Lucitania". I also thought where were the supporting ships for these two smaller vessels that could have blown the Iranian ships to hell? Your question is legit, but no one on yahoo answers will be able to actually answer it. That said, F Iran. They should have been bombed to hell in 1979.

I was wondering when someone was going to start on this conspiracy theory.
If anything Iran has taken the next step to see if anyone will do anything.
But because of the capitulation attitude of a few nothing will be done.

Actually, Iran is testing the war waters. They essentially kidnapped those soldiers to see how far Brittian and the US are willing to go. They are pushing the envelope and are going to get their hands slapped.

WOOHOO!!! Thank you so much for posting this question... OOPS - It's not a question, it's a thinly veiled conspiracy theory disguised as a question.

Nevermind, I just wanted to thank you because I needed a good laugh & I find the hysterics of conspiracy theorists abso-fu*king-lutely hilarious =))

Amen to the 1st answer, but I wouldn't count on it getting "best answer" - as I've already said, this isn't a question but a statement of your beliefs, so naturally you are saving the points for one of your fellow loons!

You have read one too many fiction stories and declare it news.

Iran's rants have been clear for sometime.

I hope someday you will understand that there are very bad people out there and itsn't always about Bush either.
