This little boy who lived down the road from me only had one leg. He was scared of riding a bike.

Yes, even in bicycle mad Netherlands everyone at first is scared of getting onto a high steel frame with two wobbly wheels. It takes some getting used to, but it's worth it. I'm progressing from a wee side-wheeled bike to a cross bike, then a "big people's bike" as I knew it then, then a sports hybrid, a racing bike, a trekking bike (panniers and the lot).. And soon perhaps a motorbike. It's a journey in itself.

I was one of the odd kids who not only did not have a bike as a kid but had no interest in getting one, and therefore never learned to ride one, but am I afraid of doing so?

At my age, yes, but on the other hand, I have both a car and a drivers license.

YES! me!!!

Mine has to do with the fact that I fell off a bike at 10, strained my big toe and got 3 nasty scars on my right leg!

I was when I was little. Then I got really good at it and it didn't scare me again until I wiped out and busted my nose. Now I'm scared again.
