Listen to music until I fall asleep.

lying in the bed is often too quiet, so I go and lie on the couch.

I turn on some tv channel with lots of talking--infomercials or home shopping network works. The boring monotomy of it lulls me to sleep. Of course, don't WATCH it, or you may end up spending all of your $$$.

I think the sounds make you feel less lonely, so you are able to sleep more securely.

Happy sleeping. Also, I am a Christian, but even for me, reading my Bible can put me to sleep. :} guilty smile

Well, the last time I couldn't sleep - I got on Yahoo! But I had already tried things like warm milk, reading, meditation etc. None of them were working, so I just gave up and pulled an all nighter!

Hot bath... then meditation. Try looking up into your head with your eyes closed, count backwards from 100 slowely. Eventually you'll fall asleep because your mind will drift off and you'll forget your task.
Or just try reading TWO pages of Rene Descartes "A Discourse on Method"

I get online and go to our favorite addictive place... Yahoo Answers! Sometimes it helps me get tired with all the crazy Q & A's on here, but once in a while it keeps me awake longer cause I like to try to answer too many questions! Ok, I'm an addict now! :0) LOL!

Take a pill. More specifically, Melatonin and/or Valerian Root. No drugs, totally natural herbs. And they work, very efficiently.

If reading or TV doesn't do it I concentrate on the ringing in my ears (tinnitus) which I usually try to ignore. It will do it almost every time!
