His experience for one thing. Experience as VP. He wasn't very good either, but better than his son. At least now, he has joined forces with Clinton, whom both have done a lot of great humanitarian work together.

I can think of two off of the top of my head:
1) The quality to realize that he HAD to raise taxes.
2) Not to invade Iraq. Despite the fact he was right next door in Kuwait.
Those two things don't mean that George Bush Sr. was a good President either. It just shows that he had SOME sense. His idiotic son apparently doesn't have any.

I don't know but the libs whined as much if not more about Sr than they did about Jr believe it or not. They blamed Sr for creating 'the new world order' where we had soldiers with jack boots going around and arresting people for doing nothing but bringing drugs into this country to ruin our country and youth. Imagine that!

George Bush Sr. was head of the CIA for a long time. You don't get to be the director of the CIA by accident. Jr. on the other hand, was an underacheiver his entire life and let his family's name open all the doors for him.
Sad, but true.

Bush was not the ideologue W., in his rise to power, became. George was the consummate DC insider, as CIA director, and, VP, he saw DC politics, in all their splendor, "up close and personal". He was more of a self made man, which, encourages compromise and diplomacy, where, W. had less of an opportunity to learn, as a "son of". George had to rely on his senses, W. on his celebrity. George was a better President, without question, and, as history is likely to demonstrate.
