My friend's boyfriend seems to know how to track everything she types in online. From search engines to passwords and I want to know how he does it? Does anyone know how? I know he doesn't have a program that does it, and it's not anything that's saved either. It's really stumping me, could anyone help?

A number of possibilities...

1) A keylogger program. May be user-level or rootkit (the former is caught by antivirus, the latter may or may not be)

2) A keylogger piece of hardware

3) By shadowing the PC with another one using one of the many 'take over' programs designed to let remote sustem maintainers fix PCs... and just watching instead of moving the mouse.

He sounds like a control freak. Such behaviour is unethical if not illegal and she should think seriously why she's involved with a guy like that.

yea...setting in History but also in archives
you can look up anything anyone has done on your PC just go under last Months History or how ever far you have your set to. that is how come when your PC freezes or gets stuck you can reset your computer back so far without deleting everything in the system. So if she is doing something she is not suppose to be doing let her know that the computer is the worst place to do it! especially her own that she shares with boyfriend, hope this helps and have a great day.

You can purchase key stroke recording software. Many companies offer this type of software, my husband use to use it on my computer. A web site where this can be purchased is http://www.key-stroke.com .......It could also be the autocomplete is turned on, which saves information for forms, logins, and passwords. Also, most computers are set up to remember websites visited over a certain number of days.

to be honest... the most easiest way is a HIDDEN program installed on her computer.... one she wouldn't know was installed...... what it is.. it is installed in the back ground (really quick she probably wouldn't have known he did it) what it does is monitors everything and sends it to his email or some central point on the web where he can access it... its really rather easy for him to do.... thats the most practical easiest option...............

but if he doesn't use that... he would be a way good hacker.... which i'm kinda skeptical of... but hey.... its passable to hack every server in on the web.... but what is not passable is that he would KNOW where she typed to hack.... you see just cause he can access the website.. doesn't mean he would know where he needed to access...... whhich is why i believe its the spy program....................... tell her to try running a spy wear program...... some of the programs i have seen has been detected by them... otheres are really sneeky....

The program is called a keylogger.

Sounds like there is a serious trust issue there though.
