Ice is the best thing for a fresh burn. Too much ice later on could further damage the tissue. Fortunately, the mouth is the fastest healing part of our bodies. For temporary relief you can use a product called "Numzit"(sp?) sold to help babies with teething pain. Be sure to let it sit for a minute or so before eating or drinking anything. The product can dissipate throughout the mouth and give you a cottony numb feeling all thru the mouth.

I don't really care if I'm in pain, I ignore it...but If I were you and wanted to assuage my pain, I would suck on an ice cube or something.
