if you're looking for a good mobo that supports SATA and RAID, then you'll be limited to the PCIEx16 video slot. When i say limited, of coarse, i mean that it is the best.

When ever i get a new computer, i always go "all out" on the mother board, and get the best for future upgrades.

With this in mind, Gigabyte makes a really powerful mother board for the socket AM2 (AMD) processor. (AMD will save you a lot of money and the socket AM2 has a long way to go before its out of date) The Gigabyte M59SLI-S5 mother board will (in my opinion) will last for years of upgrading. I comes with the nvidia 590 chipset wich will support direct x 9 and 10, perfet for the gforce 7900 and 8800 video cards. Then after some time you can hook up the SLI feature.

This mother board will support an AMD 3800+ or higher processor. It can also support RAM from 533 Mhz to 667, and even 800 Mhz.

This would be the best bang for the buck.
MoBo = $160
CPU AMD 3800 = $95
RAM 1G @ 533 = $49

go to www.mwave.com and click on "bare bones system" on the left menu to save even more money by getting a case and power supply included too. All the parts are listed to work with what you choose as your CPU and MoBo.

Hi. In my opinion the AMD Athlon 3200+ is the best CPU for Socket A boards. I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe which supports 400 MHz and I like it alot.

I don't think you will find a mobo with a Socket A that supports PCI-E. You can check at http://www.newegg.com/index.asp? and do a Power Search under Computer Hardware, Motherboards, AMD Compatible.
