It's virtually impossible to draw out the structures in Y!A. However, both compounds have a bent structure.

H2O - imagine a tetrahedron with O in the centre and a couple of H atoms at two points, then the other two positions in the H2O molecule are occupied by lone pairs. If H-O-H were in a straight line, the molecule would not be polar.

NO2 is also bent, but in this case there is only one lone pair occupying the third point of a triangle.
