I'm wanting to buy a house in Southsea, Portsmouth. I have a £7k deposit which for the price of houses around here is only classed as 5%. Are there any schemes that anyone knows of that could help me get another £7k as i've been told i can definately get a mortgage if i have a 10% deposit?

My credit rating is bad so a loan is out of the question unless you know of any specialists!

Thanks in avdance :) xx

try GMAC they don't ask many questions about employment not sure about bad credit though. they do charge a higher lending charge for 95% mortgages though. another way is to get a gifted deposit, which basically means if you get a house for less than its worth you may be able to use the rest of the amount as a virtual deposit. get a mortgage advisor they know loads. going through it myself now

i've heard of internet lenders called Zopa, not used it myself, but they claim not carry out any credit checks because you borrow from individuals based on trust. have you considered buying with a friend...hope that helps, good luck
