If it is a new engine like you said, the best thing to do is to bring it back under warrantee. From there they will do an individual cylinder compression test. Could be something as simple as a broken or loose rocker arm. They can replace a rocker, but if the rocker is attacehed and you have no compression, then the head will ned to be replaced under warrantee. Most engines come with a 3 year 36,000 mile warrantee.
good luck.......

bent valves would show up on the plug, it'll be black and wet...
its not likely to be a blocked injector either...
check the head gasket... look for oil in the rad, or water in the oil... (youll tell if it has gone.)
remove plug; then using a tyre inflator and a wet rag (to get a seal) pressurise the cylinder. (valves closed at TDC) and listen...
head gasket failure will presurise the water system and youll get air in the rad/top up bottle, or the oil system, depends where its gone...
valves bent will pressurise the fuel system (opne the tank cap and listen for bubbling (inlet) and the exhaust pipe will whistle if its the exhaust valve
rings gone will pressurise the block, and youll hear it at the oil fill on the rocker box...
we use an old spark plug, with the ceramic smashed, and a tube welded on, with a schrader valve (tyre valve)... works every time...
if you cant weld, use araldite...

You say a new engine..? do you mean a refitted engine? First, do a compression check (will separate injector from valves/rings.) Either way, if its compression its major investigation time.

Could be your timing belt has slipped a notch - some cars can suffer this without disasterous consequences.
Try a compression test.
