I was trying to remember the wives tale about the rate of the heart. Is it a girl if it's fast or slow? What is concidered fast and slow?

I have always heard over 160, its a girl... under is a boy... My baby has been about 151-153 and he's a boy...

BUT I asked my doctor about it, and he said it is really just a myth.

I think it also has to do with when you are checking the heartbeat. My friend is having a girl and she has had a hr of around 163.... when she was 20 weeks or so, it slowed down to about 147. The doctor told her it was completely fine, since she was growing so much.

Its fun to guess, but its better to wait :)

That is a very inaccurate old wives tale. I have 3 girls and none of them had heart rates over 145(except for in the very beginning weeks) My oldest daughter even had a heart rate of 120 from the time I was 7 months on. I even had extremely high blood pressure which is supposed to raise the babies heart rate.

You can't go by the lod wives tale. My sisters first was a boy and his heart rate was around 150. Her second was between 130 and 140 and it also was aboy. My first was a girl and her heart rate was always around 140. So you never can go by that.

Normal rate is 120-160 depending on how prego you are. My mom told me all of mine were girls because the heart rates were very high, my friend had a slower one and shes having a boy. Good luck

My baby's heartrate was around 160 at the beginning of the pregnancy and then around 140 to 150 toward the end, and the OB consistently assured me that it was right within "normal" range.

Girls are usually around 180, boys are around 130-150.
And it's not really an old wive's tale, it's fairly accurate!
