All cultures under-preform when compared to a democratic capitalist system (which is a European invention, not an American one obviously).
Take any area - life expectancy, tolerance, living standards, crime - no culture preforms as well as Western culture.
This is not to say that America itself is superior. A cold hard look at the numbers will show that it ranks 8th in the Human Development Index (which roughly measures the above areas)

We're made up of all different races---do you think we're just white people here? And no we don't travel often because it's freaking EXPENSIVE and we're working our butts off to get the week or two of vacation a year. When that rolls around, we're too exhausted to bother going anywhere half the time.
Also, I agree with the guy who said the British are the ones with the big racism problems. They can't get used to the fact that the people they once ruled are now on equal footing with them, and a lot of racism is coming out over there.

I don't believe all Americans do this. I know some do though, and it's sad.
And I agree with one of the answers about how Americans don't travel as much.
Most working Americans only get approx. 2 weeks of vacation per year. That doesn't really allow for much travel out of the country, or much experience with other cultures.

Because from the time we're born, we're inundated with the idea that we live in the greatest country of all time. If you're the greatest, other must be less than, right. I'm all for patriotism but I agree that we're just a little full of ourselves.

because americans are arrogant. they truly believe that they are better, and that they are right, about everything - religion, social structures, politics - in fact, they're so right , that they run around the world telling people how to make their lives better (a.k.a., more AMERICAN), neglecting their own problems and people. education - terrible. health care - terrible. homeless. unemployed. drug addicted. pfah.
