my wife and i are seperating we are housing association tenants if one of us leave will the remaining partner be able to carry on with the tenancy or because it is a joint tenancy does the tenancy end we have been tenants in the house for 25 years

You will need to find this out before one of you leaves. The one who stays may have to redo something on paper and re sign it as a single tenancy now instead of a joint one. Maybe a lawyer could help you better with this. Why are you and your wife seperating if i may ask? Have you both been to marriage counseling yet? Also you could contace and ask the association people about this too and see what can be done to work it out. Good luck to both you and your wife.

As long as the rent is being paid - I doubt anyone will care. The issue is if rent isn't being paid - then both of you are still liable even if one has moved out. Best thing to do is to contact the management and have the person that's moved out removed from the tenant's contract.
