Did the Americans from the Revolutionary or Civil War use spears, axes, or clubs during combat back then?

While spears were not used in either of the conflicts, axes & spades were indeed used. Axes were common tools carried by soldiers and when the meelee ensued, they were used as meelee weapon.

On a side note, Gen. George Washington serioulsy considered using bow & arrows when the supply of gun powder and musket balls ran low for the continental army.

As a standard practice, no. By the 18th century, the standard weapon was the musket. Bayonettes were used, and also swords. But clubs, spears and axes as a standard combat weapons went out of use about a hundred years earlier.

I think the colonists used muskets and bayonets. Farmers may have employed pick-axes and other farm implements.

The British also had muskets and bayonets. The colonists would have been out-numbered and out-armed if they used spears, axes and clubs. Think about it.

No, westerners left that behind in medieval times. By AD 1000 old world weapons were iron and better. I wonder what became of my colonial ancestor's sword and if it was brought or bought from the old world.
