I agree, the UAE is a gorgeous place to see and study in, the muslim beliefs are very modernised and relaxed so there is little to no threat going there. It is the tourist center of the middle east, they thrive on visitors to sustain their economy, they wouldnt want you feeling unsafe now would they???

Also I dont know how middle eastern you class this but Jordan is also a beautiful country with a great opportunity for study.

Sadly the common stereotype with most middle eastern countries is that they are all full of extremists, but in truth this is not the case. Jordan for example hate all of the troubles caused by muslim extremists, they very much lead a similar lifestyle as to what our 'western' societies do. Having said that you have to expect some differences and respect that fact.

Awesome that you want to branch out.....and just a little tip, in places like Dubai in the UAE if you have any university degree you can teach english there for what would probably be around 130,000 US a year tax free. And trust me, it isn't a very hard job, the activities you do are very basic english by our standards and you dont need to know the language.

Along with this salary, most schools that employ you pay your accommodation and many living expenses plus added bonuses like paid trips home for holidays.
Honestly after study if your looking to travel for 6 months a year or even longer take a look into it, its the opportunity of a life time.

I've lived and worked in the Midesast and met people who were studying Arabic in the various places (or had studied).

I would not choose UAE because it is expensive to live there and as a student, it would be difficult. The Gulf dialect is also not the nicest sounding Arabic, in my opinion (I like the Levantine -- Jordanian, Syrian, Palestinian, Lebanese pronunciation). Dubai's a nice place to visit but you're most likely to be meeting tourists and expats whereas if you're studying a language, you should be meeting locals and using the language. You won't find many people from the UAE working in the shops since they import most of their labor, so you're not likely to ever really practice Arabic...so, so much for immersion.

The Egyptian dialect is the common one taught so studying in Egypt is quite common. Egypt is relatively safe as well. I study Arabic now in the US and my professors recommended Egypt to me.

Jordan is also a good place to study and has all the 'western' conveniences. Tunisia (not quite part of the Mideast) is also a modern muslim country with good language schools with an affordable cost of living. Finally, believe it or not, Syria is an excellent place to study with great schools, very low cost of living, and a safe country (as long as the US doesn't decide to expand the Iraq debacle). I've been there several times for work and would love to enroll in a programme there -- I believe the US and Syria still allow travel for language programmes but I might be wrong.

So, I'd recommend Egypt, Jordan and Tunisia in that order.

And UAE is not only a place to study, it also has an excellent place to relax, the beaches in Dubai are beautiful and the nightlife, excellent. Perfect for a student like you!

But still European and American Universities are far better than the Middle Eastern ones

nicely, i think of you will desire to pass to the region you're making your very final determination on shifting to for a mini pass to first to make certain in case you like it. i could in all risk say that dubai could in all risk be a extra cutting-part and mushy united states to pass to. Jordan is a tolerant place yet in my view, its not very cutting-part in its thinking. there has been a extra physically powerful inflow of yankee chain eating places institutions presently. i'm speaking from my opinion purely, even nonetheless Jordan is seen a in demand united states, i've got faith that that's in the back of with technologies. Lacks corporation and that i'm keen to wager that Egypt could be even worse. I even have heard memories. shifting to the midsection east is a huge step and anticipate a manner of life ask your self. So analyze as much as you may.

I Would Disagree with UAE because it is not as good as it is to study in Jordan! There are many colleges that have many Americans! half of the people there are Americans. I know alot of them and they all go to study in them, there are many All American Schools like Mashrek International School, Abdul Hamid Sharaf School, Modern American School, And many more you can search it on yahoo.com!

I was born and raised in California untill my dad said that we had to move to Jordan, he put me in an all american school and i like it all of my friends are american!!!!!!
