I am getting ready to go do an Advanced Scuba Diving course. This course should take me to the depth of 40 meters. Will that make my tinnitus better or worse?

Having ringing in the ears (tinnittus) is normal but it could be cause by a lot of things. While Scuba your ears will be put through a series of preassure changes that could worsen ear conditions. I recomend you see an othorhinolaringologist (Ear Nose Throat doctor ENT) that has some undersanding of SCUBA and let him make the decision. Most Tinnitus are cause by the nerve endings and you might be OK for diving but you never know. Check with your ENT.

it will make any ear problems worse. most divers i knew that dove regularly all had inner ear problems., it is the pressure and the changes that do it. also cold. and if you got ear problems i dont recommend depth diving. stay in the kelp beds it is more fun anyways.
