Why does spell check always want to capitalize the word "internet", it's not a proper noun (or is it)?

I am interested in your views about this. Give me your thoughts for a couple of points in this game (like there are prizes to be won for gaining points).

it should be capitalized because it is a place like Paris althou you cant go there and in reality it is just a combination of a bunch of servers it is a network and computers at least can visit a network so if something can go there it has to be a place and by English rules it needs to be capitalized
