is it possible to tell which is which by amount of pain?

I believe they are the same, cause a sprain is pulled ligaments and tendons. They're both treated the same,

A sprain is when ligaments and tendons are stretched beyond there normal tension, A pull is when a mussel is stretched beyond its usable limits and starts to tear. The difference is a pull lasts allot longer.

I think they're just different ways of describing the same thing
and as for how bad it is is how much it hurts.
