I am currently writing a paper debunking the stereotypes that many sadly have on gays and lesbians and I am covering some of the obvious one's, such as manner and appearance and how things such as the movies perpetuate the stereotypes, etc. I am also covering the aspect how this can hurt younger gay people from coming out, but I feel there is more I can cover, so, being gay, what stereotypes bother you the most?

I'm a lezzie and the stereotypes that annoy me are:
~all lesbians want to be men
~all lesbians are bull dykes
~gay men are girly (I know this gay guy at my school and I don't think he's feminine looking at all)
~we were molested as children
~all gay people don't believe in god (while i personally don't, i know that others do so it irritates me that people will just assume something like that based sexual preference)
~you are attracted to everyone of your gender, including yourself
~bi people are just confused or they sleep with anyone
~I hate men
~we all have AIDs

I'm not gay, but there is one stereotype that I've heard a lot. Some people think that homosexuals fancy everyone of the same sex and sleep around a lot. I can imagine that must be an annoying stereotype.

OK, let's see, I'm a gay grrl and.....
I don't hate men.
I don't wear flannel shirts and workboots all the time.
I don't want to be a man.
I don't try to act like a man.
I don't try to convert str8 women.
I am NOT even remotely a pedophile.
I do not always think about sex.
My gayness is about a million things more than merely who I like sexually.
However.... I do drive a pickup truck and a motorcycle, and I have piercings and tattoos. And none of that has anything to do with my gayness.

Bi female being bad, a tramp, dirty etc. I am non of those by far! :( I was once refered to as a "lipstick-lesbo"...by a lesbian...I didn't like it at all and was very hurt.
Also people thinking all lesbians look like beer bellied men and hate men and like to bash men. That's the stereotype that really kills me.
All gay men act like girls and are sexual devients.
The list goes on and on.

All gay men do not dress well or have fashionable homes.
I know a few gay men and they don't fall into that category.....big stereotype.

all lesbians are huge ugly dykes with huge glasses and spots and about 20 stone over weight.
or all lesbians are big muscle builders with loads of peircings and tattoos and can beat anyone in a burping contest.
and wear all leather and ride motor bikes or pick up trucks...
im a lesbians, yea i got muscles but nothing too fancie, i have no pericings and one tattoo and i lose to my straight female friends at burping contests, i dont wear glasses im a size 12 (hardly over 20 stone)
i love leather but i dont wear it, love motorbikes but am too much of a wimp to ever ride one, and a pick up truck?? id shoot myself if i was stuck driving one off those!.
and i know alot of lesbians, that dont look any different to straight girls, we dont dance differently we dont always dress differently and we are not lesbians because we are too ugly to get a man...
