Brief details...Its a custody battle and child support modification case. I have 99% custody at present because of the father's lack of involvement. He is trying to establish a relationship with our son and reduce child support.

They are basically going to ask you simple questions regarding finances, child issues, any past instances with the child's father, etc. Hopefully you have an attorney-most attorneys will walk you through your basic deposition. Just be honest and keep your answers short and simple. You'll do just fine. Just because he may get to see the child more does not necessarily mean his child support will be lowered. Good luck.

Your lawyer should sit you down and make sure you're well prepared before the deposition. Its just people sitting around a conference table asking questions. If you don't have a lawyer, get one. Or search the web for deposition transcripts. They're all recorded. But don't go in there unprepared.

mine was done 16 years ago over the phone bc we lived in florida and my sons dad lived in wisconsin.. they asked me to raise my right hand (and like they could see me do that) asked me my name, age, date of birth, asked my sons name, age and dob, asked what i did for a living, if i was married, but all child support depositions are different, so that may be all they ask you or they may ask more..

You tell the truth. Answer whatever question is asked truthfully. I don't know what the situation is but it's in the best interest of the child. Protect him/her!!!
