At 192kbps, about 345 songs.
At 128kbps, about 520 songs. * This is what most people use.
At 96kbps, about 690 songs.

This is assuming that the average length of your songs is 4 minutes each.

WEll, i discovered that the number they advertise is always subject to the length of the song.
Alot of Country and Emo-Punk songs are about 2 to 3 minutes each...so you would be able to download more.
But when you get into the Techno/Dance or the Classic Rock area, the songs can range from 6 to 10 minutes each...

my iPod says it'll hold 1000 songs, but it's maxed out at around 700 due to some of my song lengths being longer than others!
